I’ve had my fair share of afternoon teas as its something I often do with my mum and sister as a perfect girly day out. There’s been mixed emotions every time we try a different afternoon tea, thinking it was way over price or one that’s left us dying to return to. So, from my personal experiences, I’ve ranked the best places in London to sip tea and eat cake…

5. Prêt-à-Portea: I had always wanted to try this one in particular, but I was quite disappointed bearing in mind the cost of it. Everything tasted more or less like a mouthful of sugar, although it was clever how they matched each sweet treat with a SS16 piece of clothing, like the Heidi Klein Bikini biscuit.

  • Insta-worthy: 8 /10
  • Yumminess: 4 /10
  • Bang for your buck: 3 /10

4. Bluebird: The sweet treats were really yummy, but the sandwiches let them down; they were plain and traditional, nothing special! Although the location is lovely, and you may even spot a Made In Chelsea star (I bumped into Rosie!).

3. B Bakery: This was a birthday treat and everywhere was booked up so when I walked past this Covent Garden café I decided to try it out. The overall vibe is more traditional, but it was still very tasty and reasonably priced!

2. The Sanderson: I haven’t been back recently, but the multiple visits I’ve made throughout the years never failed to impress. The ‘Mad Hatter’s Tea Party’ theme gives a very unique and quirky vibe. Everything from the mini passionfruit ‘Drink Me’ bottles to the assortment of apple pie flavoured teas is absolutely… scrumptious!

  • Bang for your buck: 7 /10

  1. Sketch: How many times has that pink and rose gold room appeared on your Instagram feed? 100 times? Well I was dying to try it out after reading countless reviews raving about the afternoon tea. Be warned you’ll get serious interior envy, and those mini pesto paninis will have you ordering seconds.

Personally, I prefer the more quirky and less traditional afternoon teas, but you will leave any of these restaurants with a belly full of early grey and scones.
