It’s time to tell makeup to stick it.

I’ve always found priming products a bit of a hit and miss. I’ll try various different primers that say they all do the same thing of keeping your makeup in place, but some just don’t quite do the job. Here is a list of all the priming products I’ve tried and tested…

Kabuki Brush (similar) / Contour Brush

  1. Stila One Step Correct : For someone who doesn’t have the time or knowledge for colour correcting this product is a huge thumbs up from me. The ribbons of green, peach and lilac combine with a brightening  serum which is perfect for applying all over the face for a lift and helps give your skin an overall even tone. I love how quick and easy it is to apply because I just put one pump on my hand, mix the ribbons and then apply straight onto areas where my skin is looking a little on the dull side. The only problem is I found this serum quite sticky when first applying because it isn’t very moisturising, but I did notice when wearing foundation my makeup lasted longer.
  2. Benefit ‘They’re Real!’ Tinted Primer : As you would expect, this product is great for preventing your mascara from flaking off in the day. It is also tinted so you can even wear it alone for a natural lengthening look.
  3. Thisworks in Transit Camera Close-Up : I will definitely be purchasing the full-size version of this because from its first use I found it was the perfect product to use on days when you just want slight coverage. I wouldn’t wear it with any other liquid product other than concealer because it contains moisturiser so when I used it with BB cream or foundation it actually had the opposite effect of a primer. Nevertheless, when used with powder foundation and concealer it makes for the perfect long-lasting brightening, natural look.
  4. Smash box Photo Finish Primer Water : When I bought this product I was a bit sceptical with a ‘water’ primer because I couldn’t see how it would make my makeup stay on. To be honest, I don’t know why I bought it in spray form because it is quite difficult to have an even coverage without completely soaking your makeup with this formula. I may try out another one of Smashbox’s primers – just not in spray form!
